Save the date, Monday April 29th, for the medical seminar “Commit To Be Fit” under the Indian Women’s Association’s ‘Reach for Health’ initiative. Three significant topics will be discussed at the seminar:
1. Dr. Mohammed Jarallah,Consultant Surgeon, Specialist in Obesity will speak on ‘Weight Loss Surgery’.
-Kuwait unfortunately has one of the highest incidences of obesity, mainly attributable to a sedentary lifestyle. Quick fixes seem the new norm, but what do we really know about surgery for obesity?
2. Dr. Riaz Ahmed Khan, Consultant Neurologist will share with us the ‘Truth About Pain’.
-The dictionary definition of pain lists it as a physical suffering or discomfort caused by illness or injury. However, learning the truth about pain, and what we can do to manage it can help us focus on other aspects of our life and enjoy our days.
3. Dr. Kashif Rizwi, Consultant Endocrinologist’s talk ‘Invest in Your Bones’ will enlighten us on Osteoporosis.
-Most imagine Osteoporosis occuring in frail, old women with broken bones and stooped shoulders, but Osteoporosis is not always visible. There are a variety of controllable and uncontrollable risk factors we can be aware of in order to take charge.
