Ok, so Failaka Island may not have a “chalet resort,” but it is definitely worth mentioning in this post. Why? Because it is a PERFECT escape from the city as a WHOLE! The ferry trip on its own is a fun ride, and the island takes you back in time to the “old” Kuwait. Built as a traditional Kuwaiti style village, the Failaka Island Heritage Village consists of fifty “Heritage Houses,” originally built sixty years ago, now fully restored and furnished with satellite television and ensuite facilities. Ikaros Hotel, converted from the old police garrison to a four star standard, comprising 24 rooms. Recreational facilities at the Heritage Village include a zoo, swimming pools, camel rides, bouncy castles, Failaka Stables, Failaka Lake (with pedal boats & kayaks), mini golf, a riding center for the disabled, desert buggy rentals, and much more! Wanasa Beach is only 400 meters from the Village, and jet skis, water skis, cruises to Maskan Island, fishing cruises, banana boat rides and much more can be found there. There are private areas at the beach for families with showers and also a supermarket and burger restaurant. A map layout of the Failaka Heritage Village can be found HERE, and rooms can be booked HERE.

If you want to relax away from the beach AND the city then consider the Sahara Kuwait Resort: A lush haven of exclusivity. Escape from the hustle and bustle of city life to enjoy the serene and relaxing environment of one of the 21 Villas at Sahara Kuwait to enhance a truly memorable experience. At the heart of Sahara Kuwait Resort is their stunning 18-hole golf course, built to PGA championship standards. Crafted by Peter Harradine, the designer behind golf courses in Doha and Jabal Ali, this charming and challenging course is 6730 yards long and features three lakes and nearly 5000 trees. Adding to the course’s distinctive character are its 12 holes bounded by the race track of the Hunting and Equestrian Club. This serves not only to add a challenging change in topography, but also offers an excellent view of the horse races. In all, nearly 750,000 m3 of sand was removed to sculpt the undulating contours of a course that engages golfers at every level of consciousness. Visit their website HERE for full details!
Other great resources to search for chalets are local real estate websites such as Q8Residence.com, RE.com.kw, Masahati.com or 4321Property. Note that some places require a marriage certificate in order to rent a room or chalet. If renting from an individual, this MAY not be the case, but it is better to confirm ahead of time so you are not left with any surprises. We hope this post helps you find your perfect Kuwaiti weekend getaway.
