Architecture of Kuwait (AOK) has been Kuwait’s online platform for architecture and design for over a year and a half. Their aim has always been to inform designers on the latest design-related issues in Kuwait. After many requests for software teaching, AOK will have its first workshop related to taught softwares. In collaboration with Architect Mohammed Makki, they are now providing you with a two-week comprehensive course on three different softwares.
About the Workshop:
The workshop will provide training in three softwares:
Rhino 3D for Digital Modeling
Maxwell Render for Rendering
Grasshopper 3D for Parametric Design
Dates:
July 28th: Registration, payment & software installation | 4:30 – 6:00 pm, 9:30 – 11:00 pm
Workshop: July 29 – August 15th (Fridays & Saturdays are off) | 4:30 – 6:00 pm
*Seats are limited to 20 persons. To confirm your registration, please make sure to attend at Arabana for payment and software installation on the 28th of July from 4:30 – 6:00 pm and 9:30 – 11:00 pm.
About the Softwares:
Rhino 3D gives the designer incredible freedom to express and experiment with forms, which in turn allows for the possibility of imagining the most conceptual ideas, while at the same time providing a sense of precision and realism throughout the entire modeling process. Rhino 3D is a NURBS (Non Uniform Rational B-Splines) based software. NURBS are mathematical representations of 3-D geometry that can accurately describe any shape from a simple 2-D line, circle, arc, or curve to the most complex 3-D organic free-form surface or solid. Because of their flexibility and accuracy, NURBS models can be used in any process from illustration and animation to manufacturing.

A well integrated plugin to Rhino 3D is Grasshopper 3d, it allows designers to explore new shapes using generative algorithms. Grasshopper is a graphical algorithm editor tightly integrated with Rhino’s 3-D modeling tools. Unlike RhinoScript, Grasshopper requires no knowledge of programming orscripting, but still allows designers to build form generators from the simple to the awe-inspiring. Finally, to accurately imagine the designs generated through using these software Maxwell render will be the platform to be used to render these designs. Maxwell Render enables users to create materials, set lights and cameras, and render 3D scenes, all in a stunningly realistic and intuitive way.
About Mohammed Makki:
Mohammed Makki holds a Masters of Architecture Degree (with Honors) in the Emergent technologies and Design Program held in the Architectural Association, London. Mohammed has taught in both the Architectural Association and Kuwait University. Training students at an undergraduate level and a Masters level in software that include Rhino 3D, Grasshopper and Maxwell. Mohammed’s students have recently successfully completed the construction of two 1:1 scale pavilions in Arraya shopping Center.
